Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the question we're hearing from the Holy Rosary Community. If you have questions beyond this, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school or division office.
Will there be Kindergarten and PreK next year?
- Yes.
Will the school open this fall even with a smaller student enrollment?
- Yes. We will monitor new registrations and projected enrollment for the 2023-24 school year, but we remain committed to staying open to the end of June 2024 if that is what the community wants.
Will we have a chance to reconsider our choice to stay at Holy Rosary after school starts in the fall?
- Yes. We plan to meet with the school community in September regardless of the enrollment numbers to ensure we are providing the supports you need for your families. We can discuss any concerns individually, or as a group to address changing needs as the situation evolves. Actual enrollment may not be reflective of the initial Thought Exchange results.
What will happen to athletic teams if there aren’t enough student athletes?
- We will aim to field teams for the usual elementary inter-school sports. If we don’t have enough players at Holy Rosary, we will allow students to attend tryouts and participate with Sacred Heart teams next year. This would be another chance to foster new relationships in the new school community.
What will you do to help students move to a new school?
- Transitional opportunities to meet new peers and acclimate to the Sacred Heart building could begin as early as this spring, and would certainly continue in the fall. Some possibilities include CSCCs working together, activities such as reading nights, liturgies and assemblies. We will also arrange for grade-alike student activities to allow new friendships to begin.
What happens if the engineer’s monitoring changes the timeline?
- Safety of students and staff will always be our top priority. We will create contingency plans for this potential situation and be prepared to move quickly in an urgent situation. We have already begun additional work to ensure the safety of the building through to the end of June 2024.
What is the communication plan moving forward?
- As the situation continues to evolve and change, we will keep all families informed. This may include updates during school breaks and the summer months. We are committed to listening to the community, and plan to address challenges as they come up. Safety and providing support for the transition to Sacred Heart will be the focus for RCSD administration.
